APS businesses customers in the Southwest Division have benefited from a number of system investments, which include: additional generation at the Yucca Power Plant; enhancements of the sub-transmission system; and plans for additional high-voltage transmission lines by 2014. Southwest Gas Corporation has been providing natural gas and energy services to Arizona and the Yuma community for more than 40 years and now services over 30,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Yuma County alone. In addition to distributing and delivering natural gas to its customers, the company provides technical consulting services, including energy expertise in air conditioning (HVAC), alternative energy forms, cogeneration, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), gas air conditioning and industrial process heating (boiler, oven, tanks).
Qwest has dedicated nearly $3 billion to build and upgrade a state-of-the-art communications network in Arizona, raising the sum of its gross investment in the state's infrastructure to almost $6 billion. The company also employs more than 8,500 in Arizona with a payroll exceeding $400 million annually.

More than fifty years later, Time Warner Cable, as the 2nd largest multiple service provider, owns and manages advanced, well-clustered cable systems in the United States. In the Southwest Area, which includes the Yuma Arizona system, residential as well as commercial services are offered and in 2010, the local system will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The Yuma system is able to provide true digital video, high speed internet access, and digital phone products. TWC is able to offer these services at very competitive rates and packages which will suite every end user’s application. The Yuma system is designed using the HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) topology which provides redundant paths and interconnects. This design is fully redundant, back-up powered supplied and manned 24 x7 with personal to met any demands placed.
