Yuma Regional Medical Center welcomes David Willie, who took over as the hospital’s new chief financial officer this month.

Originally from Utah, Willie is a certified public accountant and holds a master of business administration degree from Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

He came to Yuma from Vancouver, Wash., where he was the CFO at Peacehealth Southwest/Southwest Washington Health System for the past six years. Prior to that, he was the CFO at Gaston Healthcare Inc. in Gastonia, N.C., for 13 years.

“David has extensive experience in all aspects of health care finance,” said Pat Walz, YRMC chief executive officer. “As the Affordable Care Act continues to develop and the restoration of Arizona’s Proposition 204 to expand the state’s Medicaid program rolls out, David’s experience will help position YRMC to continually provide the best care for patients well into the future.”

Willie said he was attracted to YRMC because of the organization and its staff as well as the community.

“I believe YRMC is well positioned to continue to be successful in the provision of health care,” he said.

In his new position, he said, “I would like to see YRMC continue to be a successful provider of health-care services in Yuma County. I want to assure that the organization has the financial resources to provide all the care that can reasonably be expected to be available in the community, which will allow our residents to receive their heath care close to home.”

When not working, he and his wife, Brenda, enjoy snow skiing, traveling, visiting their children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren.
