Southwestern Arizona is widely acclaimed for its natural amenities, climate, cultural diversity and unique recreational activities. Located on the Colorado River just 90 miles from the ocean, Yuma embodies all these natural qualities which make it a great place to live and work. In all, more than 660 acres of parks, athletic complexes and trails are available for public use. Accredited schools, arts, culture and low cost of living make Yuma one of the finest and fastest growing cities in the country!

Since 2004, over two million square feet of new retail space has been erected in Yuma. The hospitality sector in Yuma has also flourished with 13 new hotels constructed or being built since 2006. Yuma has become a destination spot for tourist and travelers alike, which is reflected in the county’s vacancy rates, which are the lowest in the state.

Outdoor Activities

When visiting Yuma, the options for outdoor recreation are boundless. The Imperial Sand Dunes are California’s largest mass of land dunes that extend for 40 miles. National Wildlife ranges provide visitors the opportunity to engage in camping, regulated hunting, and bird watching. Hiking and rock hounding areas can also be found throughout the county for the pleasure of all. A truly unique characteristic about Yuma is that the Sonoran Desert meets the Colorado River within our region. The combination of the two natural ecosystems makes Yuma one of a kind.

San Luis, Rio Colorado

Yuma offers a unique base from which to quickly and easily access the recreation and culture of our southern neighbor, Mexico. Yumans can easily head south to the border city of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora (23 miles from Yuma) where there are a number of restaurants specializing in local fare and an active night scene. The city of San Luis R.C offers visitors the authentic experience of Mexican culture with the amenities of a major city. Continuing a short distance into the state of Sonora are the sandy beaches of El Golfo de Santa Clara and Puerto Peņasco. These pristine areas are favorite destinations to our region’s residents and tourist alike.
