Yuma Manufacturers’ Association and Industry Training
The Yuma Manufacturers’ Association was formed in 2006 to support the industrial companies in Yuma. As of to date the Yuma Manufacturers Association has graduated 275+ employees through the program. Participating companies include Johnson Controls, Shaw Carpet, Northwestern Industries, Associated Materials, Dole and Carrier. Arizona Western College Institute of Welding Technology
Arizona Western College Institute of Welding is a member of the American Welding Society and Society of Manufacturing Engineers. The program is housed within a 15,000 SF facility on campus and employs state of the art technology for the most advanced forms of welding. The institute specializes in tailoring program needs to local industry for specialized training. Training is offered in but not limited to brazing, soldering, electrical trouble shooting and fabrication. Classes are also provided in Techniques in Oxyacetylene Welding and Cutting and Welding Design, Layout, and Fabrication.
Yuma Incentives
City of Yuma Economic Development Incentive Fund
The City of Yuma has created a performance based incentive fund designed to encourage new business development, business expansions and relocations. The fund can provide up to $1,500 per new hire, given to the company in an upfront cash grant award.
City of Yuma Real and Personal Property Tax Abatement
The City of Yuma will support and agree to property tax abatements for companies creating new jobs above the County median wage ($12.12/hr).
Foreign Trade Zone #219
Companies located in Yuma FTZ #219 benefit from the reduction or elimination of duties and tariffs. Companies also receive a reduction in property taxes by 80% for the life of the project by Arizona State Statute.
Yuma Workforce Salary and Training Grant
Yuma’s Workforce Investment Board offers programs that cover the entire costs of employee training, including teaching, materials, equipment and other expenses. Companies can additionally qualify for reimbursement of 50% employee salaries paid during training for up to 6 months.
New Market Tax Credits
Below market interest loans guaranteed by federal government for the purpose of stimulating development in rural communities. The loan is valued at 15% of the total project cost. Companies utilizing New Market Tax Credits pay on the interest only of the loan for seven years. After the 7th year, the loan is forgiven and the company is awarded the principal and equity of the loan.
