A city of just under 100,000 residents, Yuma occupies 107 square miles on the far west side of Arizona, close to the US-Mexico border. Yuma has a warm climate and the natural beauty of desert and river combined. Cultural facilities, community events and outdoor activities - along with extensive retail and hospitality venues - render Yuma a popular spot for tourists. Roughly 90,000 winter residents supplement the city's population in the winter months, and an additional 300,000 visit the city.
Yuma's progressive agricultural industry provides 90 percent of the nation's winter lettuce crop, and a significant portion of all US produce. Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma holds national prominence, providing virtually all of the training for Marine fighter pilots. A progressive regional medical facility, Yuma Regional Medical Center, offers the latest in health care advances for patients from Yuma County and nearby California and Mexico.
